PQI’s Smart Genie 4in1 Reader works as promised and provides a high transfer speed, which is one of its top benefits. Compared to other top flash card readers we feel like there are more durable designs that offer more versatility for the user.

The external card reader has a long, thin design, the size of an average flash card drive. It is made of plastic and has a cap that covers the USB plug. Like many of the other flash card readers we reviewed, there is no cover for the memory card slot which makes the device vulnerable to getting something unwanted in the card slot. We were thrilled with the protective cap and the safety we feel it added for the USB plug. Although the flash card reader is made of plastic, like many other external card readers we reviewed, it seems less durable and more fragile. Like all flash card readers, it is not built to withstand unlimited pressure; however, it should be fine in your pocket or purse.

This PQI memory card reader is an all in 1 one card reader meaning it provides a single memory card slot for all of the compatible flash cards. This particular external card reader is compatible with:

• MultiMediaCards (MMC)
• RS-MMC
• Secure Digital (SD) Cards
• miniSD cards (using an adapter)

The external card reader read each card quickly and without any problems. It was easy to use as it has a plug-and-play design that once inserted into the USB port will load automatically. Memory cards load on the side of the reader instead of on the back, which will cause problems for some users but is still an excellent choice for others.

We were frustrated with the PQI website because it didn't function properly and it took longer than necessary to submit an inquiry to customer support. The website has four links across the top of the webpage: Products, Service & Support, About PQI and Contact Us. Naturally we clicked on the Contact Us tab first to attempt contacting the company. There were several options that we felt would assist us in contacting the company: service support, contact sales, contact engineer and customer service center. Two of the options offered a form we could fill out to contact the company, but after filling it out we clicked on "Submit" and nothing happened. We attempted to submit the form several times and were unsuccessful each time.

Next we attempted to find more contact information through the Service & Support tab. This tab provides links to FAQs, Warranty Info, After-Sales Service, Support Center and a User Satisfaction Survey. The Support Center provided no useful information unless you are going to stop by their office in Taiwan. Eventually we clicked on the After-Sales Service and were able to find information for the US office and sent an email to all three emails provided. Within an hour we received a response which directly answered each of the questions we proposed. In conclusion, although their website is not the easiest to navigate, the customer support team is efficient and will answer your emails quickly while addressing each of your inquiries or comments.
